2009 US Mint Silver Proof Set
I know not too many GIM sorts get excited about anything from the US Mint except UHR Eagles and the like, especially not something as lowly as the yearly proof sets. I've been collecting the silver proof sets since the start of the state quarter program and have at least one of each year. I don't expect to make any money and will probably lose except for my 1999 and 2001 sets but I don't care, I really like them.
I just got the 2009 and it is a prize. At first the silver sets came as 2 cards holding 10 coins, penny, nickle, dime, Kennedy half, and a Sacagawea dollar and the 5 state quarters. That was kicked to 2 cards, 11 coins with the addition of another nickle while the nickle program was on. Two years ago, the set had another card added for 3 total to include the President dollars. This year there are 4 cards with the addition being the 4 Lincoln pennies. The quarters, half and dime are 90%. It's a nice set. |

Re: 2009 US Mint Silver Proof Set
I bought the silver proof sets from 1999 to 2006. I'm going to try to eBay them soon. I did buy 2 of the 2009 regular Proof sets. Supposedly these are already selling above FV.
In general, Mint coins are a bad buy and it took me a while to learn this. The only real winner I have is the 2001 Silver Buffalo, I bought large on this and have been selling them off gradually. |

I received mine also. The Sacagawea dollar coin has a new design with the date on the edge.

Another if from a long string but if I had loaded the boat with 1999 silver proof sets, it would have been a 10 bagger or better, the 2001 a 6 or 7 bagger. There is the occasional winner from the US Mint, pay attention. |
